Question 1

What is DoubleClick used for?

Accepted Answer

DoubleClick represents Google advertising delivery and measurement infrastructure. Hosts under doubleclick.net appear in Google Ad Manager implementations and can support ad selection, delivery, measurement, and related advertising workflows.

Question 2

Why does doubleclick.net appear when I visit a different website?

Accepted Answer

The website’s advertising implementation can make requests to hosts under doubleclick.net. Google Publisher Tag documentation includes such requests, so seeing the domain does not mean you deliberately visited its website.

Question 3

Does doubleclick.net mean an ad was personalized?

Accepted Answer

No. A hostname observation alone cannot establish whether an ad was personalized or identify the data used. You need evidence about the particular advertising interaction and the relevant controls.

Question 4

Does every DoubleClick request use cookies?

Accepted Answer

The supplied evidence does not establish that every request uses cookies. To understand a particular interaction, examine the actual cookie and request behaviour rather than treating the domain name as proof.

Question 5

Can blocking doubleclick.net affect a website?

Accepted Answer

It can affect advertising functionality, with consequences varying by implementation. Check both whether the intended connections are blocked and whether the site functions you rely on still behave as expected.

Question 6

Where should publishers look when DoubleClick requests behave unexpectedly?

Accepted Answer

Start with Google Ad Manager documentation and Google Publisher Tag request examples. Identify the affected page, exact request, initiator, visitor choices, and blocker settings before drawing a conclusion about the cause.

Question 7

Is DoubleClick a separate consumer service?

Accepted Answer

The supplied research describes its current role as Google advertising infrastructure, rather than an independent consumer service. The captured website destination presents Google Marketing Platform’s enterprise advertising and analytics offering.
